Charlotte and Washington will go head-to-head in Friday night’s NBA Cup Group Stage clash, with the Hornets looking to keep their recent dominance over the Wizards going. Charlotte have won five straight meetings, including a 110-103 victory on Monday, so they’ll be feeling pretty confident heading into this one.
Washington are coming off another disappointing loss, going down 121-111 to Cleveland. The Wizards have now lost 11 straight games against Southeast Division opponents, which is pretty ugly form.
Charlotte fell 97-89 to Detroit despite Brandon Miller putting up an impressive 31 points and 12 rebounds. The Hornets have been much better in division matchups, winning 13 of their last 16 games. Dennis Schroder is questionable for Charlotte, while Washington could be without Tre Johnson, with Justin Champagnie already ruled out. Recent history certainly favours the Hornets, but they’ll need more support around Miller to get the job done.

Boston have made a strong start to the 2026-27 season and will be looking to keep things rolling when they host Chicago in Friday night’s NBA Cup clash. The Celtics absolutely smashed the Bulls 134-99 on Monday, continuing a run of five straight meetings between these teams won by the home side.
Boston are coming off a thrilling 125-124 overtime win against Brooklyn, with Jayson Tatum putting up a monster 40 points and 8 assists. Paul George added 20 points and 7 assists, while the Celtics have now won eight straight games when Tatum scores at least 25 points.
Chicago blew a 19-point lead in a frustrating 133-127 loss to New York despite Norman Powell dropping 30 points. Jalen Smith also chipped in with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks. The Bulls have now lost six of their last seven games, and with Smith questionable, another tough night in Boston could be on the cards.

Brooklyn are still searching for their first win of the 2026-27 season and will have their work cut out against Detroit in Friday night’s NBA Cup clash. The Pistons have won four straight road games against the Nets and took last season’s series 3-1, so recent history certainly isn’t on Brooklyn’s side.
The Nets came agonisingly close to upsetting Boston but eventually fell 125-124 in overtime. Michael Porter Jr. was impressive with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 6 threes, but Brooklyn have now lost seven straight games.
Detroit improved to 4-1 with a solid 97-89 victory over Charlotte, led by Cade Cunningham’s 30 points and 7 assists. The Pistons got the job done without Jalen Duren, who remains out, while Isaiah Joe is questionable. Brooklyn will also be missing Egor Demin. Detroit are clearly the form team here, although the Nets showed against Boston they’re capable of making things interesting.
PICK – Detroit Pistons -7.5

Philadelphia have made a strong start to the 2026-27 season and will be looking to keep things rolling when they host New York in Friday night’s NBA Cup clash. The 76ers won their first meeting 106-100 at Madison Square Garden, but they’ve lost eight straight home games against the Knicks.
Philadelphia are coming off a solid 114-109 win over Indiana, with Tyrese Maxey dropping 27 points and Joel Embiid adding 21 points and 11 rebounds. The Sixers have now won six straight when Maxey and Embiid combine for at least 45 points.
New York pulled off a massive comeback against Chicago, erasing a 19-point deficit to win 133-127. Jalen Brunson was outstanding with 38 points, 7 assists and 6 threes, while Karl-Anthony Towns added 19 points and 13 rebounds. The Knicks have won 22 straight when Brunson hits at least six threes. With Jaylen Brown questionable for Philadelphia, this shapes as a pretty interesting matchup between two teams finding some form.

Orlando and Toronto will meet for the second time this week in Friday night’s NBA Cup clash, with the Magic hoping to avoid another beating at Scotiabank Arena. The Raptors absolutely smashed Orlando 129-99 on Wednesday, making it four straight home wins against the Magic.
Toronto were on fire from beyond the arc, knocking down 15 of 35 threes at 42.9%, while Orlando managed just 10 of 35 at 28.6%. The Raptors also dominated the boards 45-34, making life pretty difficult for the visitors.
Scottie Barnes led the charge with 28 points and 3 steals on 11-of-17 shooting, while RJ Barrett added 25 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Toronto have now won eight straight at home, while Orlando have lost six of their last seven games. Unless the Magic can turn things around quickly, another tough night could be coming.

Indiana and Miami will meet for the first time this season in Friday night’s NBA Cup clash, with the Heat looking to build on a much-needed victory. Home court proved important in this matchup last season, with Miami winning their only home meeting 142-116. Pascal Siakam was a standout across the series, averaging 24.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists.
Miami finally snapped a five-game losing streak with a solid 129-117 win over Atlanta. Giannis Antetokounmpo dominated with 24 points and 18 rebounds, while Bam Adebayo added 24 points and 3 steals.
Indiana suffered another frustrating defeat, going down 114-109 to Philadelphia despite Siakam putting up 26 points and 11 rebounds. The Pacers have now lost 26 of their last 32 games and remain without Tyrese Haliburton and Ivica Zubac. With Miami finally finding a win and Indiana continuing to struggle, the Heat will fancy their chances at home.

Minnesota and the LA Clippers will meet for the first time this season in Friday night’s NBA Cup clash at Target Center, with both teams looking to bounce back from disappointing defeats. These sides split their four meetings last season, with each team picking up a win at home and on the road. Kawhi Leonard was a standout in that series, averaging 35.3 points across three appearances.
Minnesota are coming off a frustrating 119-114 loss to Golden State, dropping their record to 3-2. The Timberwolves were without Anthony Edwards, who remains sidelined, and his absence is a massive blow.
The Clippers were beaten 103-87 by the Lakers, with Keaton Wagler struggling badly on 4-of-15 shooting. They’ve now lost four of their last five games, which isn’t exactly encouraging. Rui Hachimura is also questionable to return. Neither team is coming in with much momentum, but Edwards’ absence could make this a pretty interesting contest.
