Imagine dropping 51-8-8 in the NBA Finals, giving 100% of your blood sweat and tears, and then having the night remembered as “that time JR Smith forgot the score”.
Poor Lebron.
Like everybody else, we were left speechless with the Game 2 storyline. The Cavs were never supposed to have a chance in Game 1 as -12.0 underdogs, and yet came within a missed free-throw, and one of the most dipshit stuff-ups in sporting history of upsetting the Oracle Arena Crowd.
Instead, what we ended up with was a blowout Overtime Warriors win, and Twitter blowing up with meme after meme of “The Thought”…
But let’s not let Coach Lue off the hook either, who should have been out on the court screaming for a timeout the moment JR left the key, instead leaving him as the scapegoat.
Even after the game was over Lue was telling reporters that “he (JR) thought we were up one” while JR was outside with reporters saying that “I knew the game was tied and thought they were going to call a timeout”.
What a fuck-up of epic proportions.
But now to the tips!
This one will go one of two ways. Either the Cavs push aside the Game 1 absurdity and gain confidence from how close they came. Or they fall to pieces on and off the court after blowing one of the biggest chances they had of making this a Series.
Hard to say which one it will be.
Expect Lebron to again go 40+.
