Four NBA games to get stuck into today, with Boston taking on Brooklyn, Detroit heading to New York, Sacramento up against the Spurs and Portland having a crack at the unbeaten Lakers.
The Pistons are flying at 3-0 while the Knicks are having an absolute shocker at 0-3. Still early days, but there’s a few juicy lines floating around and hopefully a couple of winners to help fill the punting account. Let’s get into it!
BROOKLYN NETS @ BOSTON CELTICS
TD Garden, Boston, MA
Line: BOS -11.5
O/U: 221.5
Boston are off to a decent start at 2-1, banging in 118 points a game and keeping the opposition to just 107.7. Brooklyn, on the other hand, have been absolutely rubbish, sitting 0-3 and leaking a whopping 123.7 points a night. The Celtics have won both games at home, while the Nets look like they couldn’t defend a parked car.
Everything points to Boston giving these blokes a proper touch-up, especially on their home deck. The only worry for punters is that bloody double-digit line. Boston should get the chocolates comfortably, but whether they can cover the spread is another story.

DETROIT PISTONS @ NEW YORK KNICKS
Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Line: NY -4.5
O/U: 218.5
Detroit have come out absolutely flying, sitting pretty at 3-0 and pumping in 118.3 points a night while only coughing up 105.7. The Knicks, meanwhile, have been bloody ordinary, starting 0-3 and barely scraping together 101.7 points a game.
The Pistons have already knocked over two sides on the road, while New York have dropped both games at home. Somehow the bookies still have the Knicks as favourites, which looks a bit generous if you ask me. Sure, New York could finally pull their finger out in front of the home crowd, but Detroit are playing the better basketball by a country mile. Getting 3.5 points with the Pistons looks like a pretty tasty bet.

SACRAMENTO KINGS @ SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Frost Bank Center, San Antonio, TX
Line: SA -18.5
O/U: 230.5
San Antonio have had a pretty average start to the season, sitting 1-2 and putting up 112 points a game while giving up just as many. Sacramento, meanwhile, have been an absolute disaster, starting 0-3 and getting torched for 124 points a night. Their defence has been nothing short of embarrassing.
The Spurs should have no trouble putting points on the board against this awful Kings defence, especially inside the paint. But here’s the problem for bettors. The oddsmakers have slapped a massive 18.5-point spread on San Antonio, which is a hell of a lot for a team that hasn’t even won a home game yet. The Spurs should win this one comfortably, but covering nearly 20 points is a completely different story. Sacramento might be terrible right now, but getting 18.5 points against an unproven Spurs side looks like a bet worth considering.

PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS @ LOS ANGELES LAKERS
Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, CA
Line: LAL -3.5
O/U: 236.5
Portland has started 2-0 with an outstanding +24.5 differential, averaging 126.0 PPG while conceding just 101.5. Los Angeles is also undefeated at 3-0, leading the league’s early offensive charge with 128.0 PPG and a +13.0 differential. The Lakers have won both home games, but Portland’s defensive performance has been considerably stronger across its opening two contests.
With both teams producing explosive offensive numbers, this shapes as a competitive matchup. Portland’s early defensive advantage and the additional 2.5 points make the Trail Blazers an appealing selection against the spread.
