TONIGHT’S BEST MLB PICKS

LA DODGERS @ ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks face off in a NL West matchup. The Dodgers, leading the division with an 82-54 record, will turn to Justin Wrobleski to close out the series.

Wrobleski, despite allowing just six runs over his last three starts, has struggled this season, with a 5.83 expected ERA and a .545 expected opponent slugging percentage. He’s given up 14 runs in 25 innings, and opponents have been making hard contact, evidenced by his 13.7% barrel rate.

The Dodgers’ offense, however, has been great, scoring 4.98 runs per game and tallying 30 runs in their last four outings. Shohei Ohtani leads the charge with 43 home runs and a .620 slugging percentage, while Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman have combined for 31 home runs and over 380 total bases.

Arizona, holding a 76-60 record, will counter with Brandon Pfaadt. Pfaadt has allowed 14 runs in his last three starts but boasts a respectable 3.53 expected ERA and a 29.9% chase rate. His 145 strikeouts in 154 innings highlight his ability to miss bats.

Arizona’s offense, leading the league with 5.36 runs per game, features Joc Pederson and Jake McCarthy, who have combined for 34 home runs and nearly 320 total bases. The Diamondbacks are looking to close the gap on the Dodgers with this series.

BEST PICK – OVER 8.5 TOTAL RUNS (ALT TOTAL)

SAN DIEGO PADRES @ TAMPA BAY RAYS

The Padres will take on the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday at Tropicana Field, with the first pitch set for 1:40 p.m. ET.

San Diego, with a strong road record of 40-28 this season, looks to continue its momentum after a 13-run outburst in the series opener. The Padres, 27-11 since the All-Star break, are led by Jackson Merrill (20 HR, .817 OPS), Luis Arraez (.307 BA), and Jurickson Profar (21 HR, .848 OPS). The team ranks 6th in OBP and 8th in OPS, with 158 home runs, while the pitching staff has a 3.97 ERA and 1.24 WHIP.

Dylan Cease will start for San Diego, carrying a 12-10 record with a 3.57 ERA and 1.09 WHIP this season. Cease has struggled against the Rays, holding a 5.40 ERA in five career appearances.

The Rays, who are 34-35 at home, will counter with Ryan Pepiot. Pepiot has a 3.73 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 12 home starts but has struggled against San Diego, with a 4.50 ERA in two career outings. The Rays’ offense, led by Brandon Lowe and Jose Siri, ranks 26th in OPS and 27th in home runs.
