NEW YORK METS @ ATLANTA BRAVES (GAME 1)
The Mets and Braves open a doubleheader, rescheduled due to last week’s hurricane.
The 88-72 Mets will have Tylor Megill on the mound. Megill has been good recently, posting a 1.80 ERA this month, but has foudn it tough against the Braves, with a 1-4 record and a 4.94 ERA in his career against them.
The Mets have turned their season around and enter this one having won four of their last five series. Pete Alonso will be a key player, with 34 home runs and 88 RBIs on the season, and he’s had success against the Braves, driving in eight runs with a .968 OPS in the season series.
The Braves are also 88-72 and counter with rookie Spencer Schwellenbach, who has been impressive in his debut season. Schwellenbach was great against the Mets in his last start, allowing just one run over seven innings, and carries a solid 3.47 ERA this season.
Atlanta needs one win in this doubleheader to secure a Wild Card spot, and Matt Olson has been leading the charge, with 29 home runs and 98 RBIs. Olson has been particularly clutch in recent weeks, with 21 RBIs and a 1.01 OPS in September.
