The Guardians and Yankees take the field at Yankee Stadium for Game 2 of the American League Championship Series.
The Yankees took care of the Royals in the ALDS and cruised to a 5-2 win in Game 1 last night behind the pitching of Carlos Rodon and timely homers from Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton.
For Game 2, the Guardians will rely on Tanner Bibee (12-8), who has been steady in the playoffs with a 2.08 ERA across two starts, while the Yankees will counter with their ace, Gerrit Cole (9-5), looking to build on his postseason form.
Cleveland hopes to level the series behind Bibee, who has excelled on the road this year with a 2.76 ERA. Bibee has shown the ability to limit damage and hand the ball off to a bullpen that has been one of the league’s best all season.
On the other side, Cole, despite his overall success, has had some struggles at Yankee Stadium, particularly with allowing home runs due to the short porch in right field.
If the Guardians can get to Cole early and let their bullpen take control, they stand a good chance of tying up the series.
Expect a tight game with Cleveland’s bullpen potentially being the key to victory.
