TONIGHT’S MLB PICKS & PARLAYS

WASHINGTON NATIONALS @ CHICAGO CUBS

The Nationals (68-85) take on the Cubs (78-75) in the second game of their three-game series on Saturday afternoon.

The Nationals send Mackenzie Gore to the mound, while the Cubs counter with Kyle Hendricks. The Cubs lead the season series 4-0.

Gore has been good lately, allowing two or fewer runs in four straight games. He holds a 9-12 record with a 4.17 ERA in 153.1 innings pitched this season. However, he’s battled against the Cubs, giving up 12 runs in 15 career innings against them. The Nationals have been good of late but were swept by the Mets earlier this week. They are 14 games under .500 on the road and rank 24th in runs per game.

Hendricks, the veteran Cubs starter, has rebounded this month with a 2.93 ERA in September, despite struggling for most of the season. He holds a 4-11 record and a 6.25 ERA overall. The Cubs are out of the playoffs, trailing seven games for a wildcard spot, but they remain five games above .500 at home.

BEST PICK – OVER 6.5 TOTAL RUNS (ALT TOTAL)

CHICAGO WHITE SOX @ SAN DIEGO PADRES

The struggling White Sox (36-117) will play the middle game of a three-game series on Sunday against the San Diego Padres (87-66) at Petco Park.

The White Sox lost 4-3 to the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday and have lost six of their last nine games. With their postseason hopes well and truly gone, Chicago is looking to finish a difficult season on a positive.

The Padres are in playoff contention, holding the first NL Wild Card spot and trailing the Los Angeles Dodgers by four games in the NL West.

Chicago has been poor at the plate, ranking near the bottom in runs scored and on-base percentage. On the mound, the White Sox fare little better, sitting 28th in ERA. Chris Flexen, who is 2-14 with a 5.09 ERA, will start for Chicago on Saturday.

San Diego have been strong offensively, ranking 1st in batting average and top 10 in runs scored and slugging percentage. The Padres also have solid pitching, ranking 12th in ERA. They will start lefty Martin Perez, who is 4-5 with a 4.36 ERA this season.

BEST PICK – SAN DIEGO ML
