TONIGHT’S MLB PICKS & PARLAYS
HOUSTON ASTROS @ OAKLAND ATHLETICS
The A’s and Astros wrap up their three-game series Thursday afternoon at Minute Maid Park.
Oakland are battling to stay out of last place in the AL West, while the Astros are on their way to another division title. Oakland starts Mitch Spence (7-9, 4.42 ERA), while Houston counters with lefty Framber Valdez (14-6, 2.97 ERA).
The A’s have been in a tight race with the Angels for the division’s basement, but they managed to win the series opener in 12 innings.
Spence takes the mound after allowing one run in 4.1 innings in his last outing. Meanwhile, the Astros, led by Valdez, aim to secure the AL West title.
Valdez has been in excellent pitching form, with a sweet 2.97 ERA with four wins in his last five starts and just two hits allowed in his last 14 innings.
The pitching matchup of Valdez v Spence leans us to Astro town.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS @ SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS
The Brewers (83-61; 41-32 away) and Giants (71-74; 40-33 home) face off for the final time this season at Oracle Park.
Milwaukee has a a 3-1 series lead and looks to add another W in their quest for a division title.
The Brewers are cruising toward the NL Central title with an 8.5-game lead and will turn to Frankie Montas, who has a 3.92 ERA with Milwaukee. Montas has helped the Brews win five of his seven starts, and Milwaukee’s strong bullpen, ranked second in ERA, will be ready to close it out. Offensively, the Brewers average 4.82 runs per game and remain a top-scoring team despite Christian Yelich’s absence.
The Giants, who are 8.5 games behind in the wild-card race, will give Hayden Birdsong his 13th start.
Birdsong has struggled, posting a 5.19 ERA and losing all six starts since August. San Francisco’s offense, averaging 4.26 runs per game, will need to step up to stop another Milwaukee win.
Last night’s matchup brought the runs, expect at least 7.5 tonight.
