TONIGHT’S BEST MLB PICKS

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ TORONTO BLUE JAYS

The Phillies (81-56) take on the Blue Jays (67-72) at Rogers Centre on Tuesday night, with first pitch set for 7:07 p.m. EST.

The Phillies, fresh off a thrilling walk-off win against the Braves, look to continue their momentum as they push towards an NL East title.

Rookie Tyler Phillips will start for Philadelphia, bringing a 5.50 ERA over 36.0 career innings. Despite his struggles, the Phillies’ bullpen, ranked fifth in WAR and ninth in FIP, has been a solid backup. Offensively, the Phillies are potent, averaging 4.81 runs per game and ranking top-10 in several key batting categories.

The Blue Jays, however, are facing a disappointing season and will counter with Chris Bassitt, who held the Phillies to two runs in a May victory. But Bassitt has struggled in the second half with a 6.09 ERA, and Toronto’s bullpen ranks among the league’s worst.

Despite a recent power surge in August, Toronto’s offensive inconsistencies remain a concern as they fight to finish the season strong.

BEST PICK – UNDER 10.5 TOTAL RUNS (ALT TOTAL)

TEXAS RANGERS @ NEW YORK YANKEES

The Yankees and Rangers face off in the second game of their three-game series on Tuesday night in Arlington, Texas.

The Yankees, leading the AL East, are battling to secure a first-round bye in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Rangers, with a sub-.500 record, are playing the role of spoilers as the season winds down.

The Yankees will send left-hander Carlos Rodon to the mound. Rodon has a 14-9 record over 27 starts this season, including 13 quality starts. He has a 4.31 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP, and has struck out 161 batters in 146.1 innings. However, Rodon has struggled with the long ball, allowing 25 home runs. In his last outing, he gave up five runs in 5.2 innings during a loss to the Nationals.

The Rangers will counter with veteran right-hander Nathan Eovaldi, who has been a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season for Texas. Eovaldi boasts a 10-7 record with a solid 3.60 ERA and 1.06 WHIP across 24 starts. He has struck out 138 batters in 140 innings while allowing just 117 hits. In his last start, Eovaldi dominated, giving up only one hit over seven innings in a win against the White Sox.
