Tracy McGrady scores 13 points in 35 seconds
We at The Midfield have watched this clip at least 100 times each. Give us a few beers and a bit of NBA chat on a Saturday night and at some point one of us will no doubt say… “Want to watch the McGrady 13 points in 33 seconds video?”
The answer is always, yes.
The night was December 9th, 2004 at the Toyota Center, with the Rockets trailing the San Antonio Spurs 68-76 with 36.8 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter, as Tracy McGrady launched his first trey in Malik Rose’s face at the top of the key.
From here, one of the greatest comebacks in NBA history was made, on the back of one of the greatest offensive forces the NBA has seen.
Tracy McGrady scores 13 points in 35 seconds
McGrady completed one of the greatest fairytales in sport with four straight three-pointers and a made free throw to complete a four point play.
There was also the steal from Devin Brown that led to the game-winning three pointer.
Brown’s reaction says it all…
Interesting fact – San Antonio actually had the best defense from beyond the arc during this season, which makes McGrady’s performance over the league’s elite perimeter defender in Bruce Bowen even more impressive.
The Rockets went on to a 51-31 record in the 2004-2005 season, with McGrady recording the following per game stats.
Player | Age | FG% | TRB | AST | STL | PTS/G |
Tracy McGrady | 25 | 0.431 | 6.2 | 5.7 | 1.7 | 25.7 |
