You can feel Cleveland’s offense brewing as they head into Game 3.
The Guardians have gone just 1-for-11 with RISP in the series, and Jose Ramirez’s solo home run off Luke Weaver in the ninth inning of Game 2 could mark the start of something special. Cleveland has trailed early in both games so far, a dangerous pattern, as they went 20 games under .500 when failing to score first in the regular season and are just 1-4 in such situations this postseason. Boyd, with his flawless postseason performances so far, is the right choice to start Game 3, giving the Guardians a chance to grab the early lead and control the game.
Cleveland has responded well when facing adversity all season. They were down 2-1 to Detroit in the ALDS but battled back, and we expect them to rise to the occasion again on Thursday. Look for Boyd to provide shutdown innings early, giving Cleveland the spark they need to push across runs and avoid elimination.

LOS ANGELES DODGERS @ NEW YORK METS
The New York Mets will look to even the series on Thursday with veteran lefty Jose Quintana (10-10, 3.75 ERA) on the mound. Quintana has been great this postseason, allowing just one run over 11 innings in his first two starts, leading the Mets to a W both times.
The Dodgers counter with right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (7-2, 3.00 ERA), who has won his last five starts despite giving up 11 runs in his previous 20 innings. After a frustrating Game 3, where the Mets stranded eight runners and struck out 13 times, they’ll need timely hitting to back Quintana’s consistency. If the Mets can jump on Yamamoto early and let their bullpen protect a lead, they’ll be in a good position to take this game at home.
