SAN DIEGO PADRES @ LA DODGERS
The Padres are well-positioned heading into Game 5 despite not closing out the series in Game 4.
They’ve put up runs throughout the postseason and will have their ace, Yu Darvish, on the mound for the decisive game. Darvish has been great against the Dodgers this season, allowing just five runs (four earned) in 22.2 innings, including a big Game 2 where he held Los Angeles to just one run over seven innings. With a wealth of postseason experience and a strong 2.88 ERA from the 2022 playoffs, Darvish’s track record gives San Diego an edge.
The Dodgers have found life tough on the mound outside of Game 4 and will send out Ymamamoto (7-2) for Game 5.
Yamamoto gave up five runs in Game 1 and has found life hard against San Diego all season. The Dodgers’ pitching could be a major disadvantage against a Padres lineup that’s been firing on all cylinders. San Diego’s strong offense combined with Darvish’s reliability on the mound makes them the favorite to advance.
