TONIGHT’S MLB PICKS & PARLAYS
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ NEW YORK METS
The Mets have found a spark and with Game 4 taking place at home, they are in prime position to inch closer to the World Series. Despite a busy schedule, including playing on the final Monday of the regular season and going the distance in the Wild Card round, the Mets have held their form.
On the other hand, the Phillies had a few days off due to a first-round bye, which can sometimes disrupt a hitter’s rhythm and lead to a rusty start.
Jose Quintana will take the mound for the Mets after a great Wild Card round, where he pitched six scoreless innings against the Brewers. Quintana is in peak form, with a 0.72 ERA over the last 30 days. He’s also had some nice outings against the Phillies this season, with a solid 2.81 ERA.
Philadelphia’s Ranger Suarez has struggled lately, with a 6.04 ERA over the same period. The Mets have the edge in form, the hotter pitcher, and home-field advantage, making them the team to back in Game 4.
LA DODGERS @ SAN DIEGO PADRES
The Dodgers find themselves in a must-win after dropping games two and three.
After a nice game one W, the Dodgers have been outscored 16-7 in the last two games, with their pitching staff showing signs of fatigue. To make matters worse, they are opting for a bullpen game in this elimination matchup, which is a risky move.
Dodgers pitcher Landon Knack, who could pitch the bulk of the innings, struggled in September with a 5.14 ERA and has not proven reliable in high-pressure situations. He allowed four runs in his last game, making it a tough spot for the Dodgers.
The Padres are surging, having won four of their last five postseason games. They’re turning to Dylan Cease, who will be pitching on short rest but has been effective against the Dodgers. Cease allowed just four runs in 10.2 innings during the regular season, and his 2.61 ERA against Los Angeles highlights his ability to handle their lineup.
With the Padres’ offense clicking and Cease’s strong track record, San Diego is in a favorable position to close out the series and eliminate the Dodgers.
