TONIGHT’S MLB PICKS & PARLAYS
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ NEW YORK METS
The Phillies and Mets meet for Game 3 of the NLDS on Tuesday, with the series tied at 1-1 after a thrilling Game 2 that saw six home runs launch into the stands.
The Phillies rallied for a 7-6 win, thanks to a walk-off single by Nick Castellanos in the bottom of the ninth. Castellanos, who had three hits and two RBIs in the game, along with Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, will be key for Philadelphia as they look to steal at least one game in New York to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Aaron Nola, who has an 3.57 ERA this season, takes the mound for the Phillies. Nola had a mixed record against the Mets this year, with a shutout in one game but struggling in another where he gave up six earned runs.
The Mets hope to regain some swagger at home. Despite their loss in Game 2, their offense produced four home runs, including two from Mark Vientos, who has been a postseason standout for New York with a .400 average.
Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo added home runs in Game 2, with Alonso continuing to be a power threat, though his postseason batting average sits at .176. Sean Manaea, with a 12-6 regular season record and a 3.47 ERA, will get the start for New York.
Manaea has struggled against the Phillies this year, posting a 5.40 ERA in three appearances, but will look to bounce back as the Mets aim to take control of the series at home.
KANSAS CITY ROYALS @ NEW YORK YANKEES
The Dodgers and Padres are locked in a heated NLDS battle, with the series tied 1-1 as Game 3 approaches.
The Dodgers rely on vet Walker Buehler, who was good in his last outing against the Padres, allowing just one run over five innings. However, Buehler has found it tough this season, posting a 5.38 ERA and a 1-6 record since returning from elbow surgery.
The Dodgers’ offense will need to step up after a quiet performance in Game 2, where they managed just five hits in a 10-2 loss. Key hitters like Shohei Ohtani and Max Muncy will need to regain form, especially with the Padres’ strong pitching and home-field advantage in the next two games.
The Padres counter with Michael King, who has been very solid this postseason, most recently in his wildcard outing against the Braves. King has been a breakout star, with a 2.95 ERA and a 13-9 record this season.
The Padres’ offense has been explosive, scoring 15 runs in the first two games of this series, powered by home runs and timely hitting. Jackson Merrill and Fernando Tatis Jr. have led the charge, each contributing five RBIs, while Kyle Higashioka has been a surprise offensive force with three postseason home runs.
With recent trend on their side and a strong home record against the Dodgers, the Padres look to take control of the series in Game 3.
