TONIGHT’S MLB PICKS & PARLAYS

NEW YORK METS @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

Game 2 of the NLDS takes place on Sunday when the Mets face the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. The Mets hold a 1-0 series lead after winning Game 1, 6-2, on Saturday, stealing home-field advantage from the Phillies.

New York scored five runs in the eighth inning of Game 1 to secure the win, with timely hitting from across the lineup. First pitch for Game 2 is set for 4:08 PM ET, with Luis Severino (11-7, 3.91 ERA) starting for the Mets and Christopher Sanchez (11-9, 3.32 ERA) pitching for the Phillies.

The Mets continued their late-game magic from the Wild Card round, this time breaking a scoreless tie in the eighth inning of Game 1. Five different Mets players contributed RBIs, including Brandon Nimmo, who had clutch singles in both the eighth and ninth innings. Pete Alonso, New York’s slugger also drove in a run ontinuing his postseason form after a series-clinching home run in the Wild Card round. Severino, who has been solid all season, will look to follow up on his playoff start against the Brewers where he allowed three earned runs over six innings.

The Phillies find themselves in a must-win situation at home. After a strong start from Zack Wheeler, who was great through seven innings, the bullpen faltered, allowing the Mets’ late rally. Kyle Schwarber’s leadoff home run provided an early spark, but Philadelphia’s offense went quiet until the ninth inning.

With Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Schwarber leading the charge, the Phillies need a more even offensive showing. Sanchez, who posted 3.32 ERA this season, takes the mound hoping to give Philadelphia a chance to even the series before heading to New York.

BEST PICK – OVER 6.5 TOTAL RUNS (ALT TOAL)

SAN DIEGO PADRES @ LA DODGERS

The Padres will look to even the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 on Sunday evening.

The Padres will send Yu Darvish to the mound, who has been good this season with a 3.31 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. Darvish has been particularly good against the Dodgers, allowing just three earned runs across 15.2 innings this season, while maintaining a 2.27 career ERA against them.

Offensively, the Padres put up a strong fight in Game 1, jumping out to multiple leads, but ultimately their pitching faltered in a 7-5 defeat. Despite losing, the Padres showed resilience, and their bullpen performed well, giving up just one earned run. Luis Arraez, who captured the batting title this season with a .314 average, will be key to the Padres’ offense. He’s recorded four hits so far in the postseason, while Xander Bogaerts added two RBIs in Game 1, bringing his playoff experience from Boston.

The Dodgers will counter with Jack Flaherty, who was acquired midseason and finished the year with a 3.17 ERA. Flaherty has had mixed success against the Padres, with a 4.45 ERA in 30.1 career innings. Los Angeles, however, shined in Game 1 with their bats, overcoming deficits to secure the win with 10 hits.

Max Muncy, a proven playoff performer, went 0-for-4 in the opener but remains a postseason threat with 10 career playoff home runs. Mookie Betts, who was great in the regular season series against the Padres, posted 14 RBIs against them and will look to maintain his form in Game 2.

The Dodgers are averaging 5.20 runs per game, but their pitching has been up and down, ranking 13th in the league with a 3.90 ERA. A win on Sunday would give them a commanding 2-0 series lead before heading to San Diego.
