Arizona is fighting to secure one of the last Wildcard positions after a recent slump.
San Diego’s offense has been strong all season, averaging 4.71 runs per game and leading the league with a .264 team batting average. Martin Perez, who has been good lately, will take the mound after allowing just one run in 5.1 innings during his last outing. The Padres will look to finish strong and drop Arizona out of Wildcard spot with a win.
Arizona, averaging 5.47 runs per game, boasts a potent lineup led by Ketel Marte and Eugenio Suarez. However, their pitching has struggled, and starter Brandon Pfaadt will need to bounce back from a rough outing in his previous start.

The Pirates have struggled on the road, and have not shown much improvement from last year. Despite Bryan Reynolds’ year with 24 home runs and 88 RBIs, Pittsburgh’s offense has been average, averaging just 4.10 runs per game.
The Yankees will counter with Clarke Schmidt, who has been in good form, posting a 2.61 ERA in September. Schmidt will look to help the Yankees maintain their good form heading into the playoffs after they secured the AL East title.
The Yankees have been potent offensively, averaging 5.02 runs per game, led by Giancarlo Stanton and his 27 home runs, along with strong support from stars like Juan Soto and Aaron Judge.
