The Padres will send Martin Perez to the mound, who has been solid lately, posting a 1.08 ERA over his last three starts. Perez will look to continue his form against an Arizona team that he’s faced twice before.
The Diamondbacks, fresh off an 8-2 win over the Giants, are tied with the Mets for the final wild card spot, making this series pivotal. Merrill Kelly, who has been reliable all season, takes the hill for Arizona. Kelly, who is unbeaten this season, holds a career 9-3 record against the Padres, and his performance could be the key to Arizona’s playoff hopes.

The Reds and Cubs open a three-game series on Friday, with both wrapping up their 2024 campaigns.
