DETROIT TIGERS @ KANSAS CITY ROYALS
Still in the AL Wild Card hunt, Detroit are expected to start Reese Olson. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 4-8 record, 3.23 ERA, and 1.18 WHIP in 19 outings this season.
Detroit won two of three against Baltimore in their last series, staying in the playoff race with seven wins in their last 10 games. Olson has faced the Royals twice in 2024, allowing just two earned runs over 9.2 innings.
Kansas City will counter with Seth Lugo, who’s been impressive with a 16-8 record, 2.94 ERA, and 1.09 WHIP this season.
Lugo has smashed Detroit this year, allowing just one run in 15 innings across two starts. The Royals, sitting second in the AL Wild Card standings, are hoping to make a deep postseason push. Lugo has been outstanding in September, posting a 0.64 ERA.

HOUSTON ASTROS @ SAN DIEGO PADRES
The San Diego play host to the Astros in a series opener at Petco Park on Monday night.
The Astros are in good position at the top of the AL West as they look to finish the regular season on high. The Padres, despite a nice record, find themselves in the thick of the Wild Card race in the fiesty NL West.
Houston will send Spencer Arrighetti (7-12, 4.72 ERA) to the mound, looking for some good solid form ahead of the playoffs. San Diego counters with Yu Darvish (5-3, 3.52 ERA), who has been in great form this season.
The Astros won two of three in last year’s matchup, but the Padres are determined to turn the tide at home.
