In a rematch of th NBA Finals, the Thunder and Pacers meet at Gainbridge Fieldhouse as two teams with very different outlooks begin the new campaign.
Last season’s championship series went the full seven games, with Oklahoma City securing the title after a 103–91 victory in Game 7. That contest came at a heavy cost for Indiana, as star guard Tyrese Haliburton suffered a torn Achilles that is expected to sideline him for the entirety of the 2025–26 season. The Pacers also lost longtime starting center Myles Turner in free agency, with the veteran big man signing with Milwaukee.
Oklahoma City opened its title defense in thrilling fashion, edging Houston 125–124 in double overtime at Paycom Center. Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander poured in 35 points while Chet Holmgren added 28, with the Thunder pulling out the win despite the absence of Jalen Williams. The victory extended an impressive trend — Oklahoma City is now 21–1 in its last 22 games when Gilgeous-Alexander and Holmgren combine for at least 55 points.

The season opens for the Nuggets as they travel to Chase Center to face the Warriors.
With a revamped front office intent on making its mark, Denver made significant offseason moves – most notably trading Michael Porter Jr. to Brooklyn in exchange for Cameron Johnson. The Nuggets also bolstered their depth by adding veterans Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Jonas Valančiūnas to strengthen the second unit.
Golden State already has one win under its belt after a 119–109 victory over the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena, powered by a 31-point performance from Jimmy Butler. The Warriors will look to carry that momentum into their home opener against a Nuggets team that has historically matched up well with them.
Denver took last season’s series 2–1, claiming victories both at home and on the road. Nikola Jokić was dominant in those meetings, averaging 35.5 points across two appearances.
PICK – DENVER +2.5
