The Boston Celtics are leading the series, but Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle is determined to fight back in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday night in Indianapolis. No NBA team has ever recovered from a 3-0 deficit in playoff history, but Carlisle remains optimistic.
“We’re not going to be deterred,” Carlisle said. “We’re going to come at it even harder. We don’t have a choice.”
Boston rallied from an 18-point, third-quarter deficit to win 114-111 in Game 3 on Saturday, moving within one victory of the finals. Celtics star Jayson Tatum emphasized the importance of staying focused.
Indiana played without All-NBA third-team selection Tyrese Haliburton in Game 3, who may also miss Game 4 due to a hamstring injury.
Celtics point guard Jrue Holiday, despite being ill, made crucial plays, including a go-ahead three-point play and a key steal. Tatum scored 36 points, while Andrew Nembhard had a career-high 32 points for Indiana.
The Pacers vow to fight on, with Carlisle insisting there’s still life left in the Pacers.
