With the 20/21 Season reduced to 72 regular season games, we wont be looking at comparing the overall records of the teams but however the total WINs. With 10 extra games, expect 3-5 extra wins per team. Many unknowns already coming to season 21/22 with Covid and vaccination mandates, however, we wont be running into a season of teams being underdone due to the bubble experience.

Atlanta Hawks
2021 Wins: 41
The Hawks retooled their lineup last year but didn’t get to see the fruits of the labor flourish until the third half of the season and into the playoffs where they made the final 4. Sturck down by injuries and covid, the Hawks will hit the court at full health and a deep roster

The Celtics have not been the same since the Kyrie Irving experiment which could also be tied to some Isaiah Thomas karma. Still keeping their core in Tatum, Brown and Smart. The revolving door of Centers and Point Guards coming in this year (Horford & Schroder) still probably doesn’t move the needle enough, even with a new voice in the locker room.

Plagued with the Kyrie Irving no vaccine narrative in the offseason, let’s not forget that they still have 2 of the top 5 best players on their roster and came through 2nd in the Conference last year with massive impacts to personale and rest with their stars, not forgetting Kyrie going AWOL. Harden and Durant are ready to flex.

Won the hearts of all NBA pundits with LaMelo Ball becoming the face and future of the franchise. Wasn’t long ago that they were getting piled on by all media but Owner Michael Jordan is not only having the Last Dance but also at this stage, the last laugh. With the hopes of injury on their side with Ball and Hayward, getting to 40 wins should be in their wheel house.

The Bulls have pretty much gone all in with massive free agent signings in Lonzo and DeRozan, coupled with the trade deadline move in Vucevic. Defense will be an issue but would think they have enough fire-power to aid the burden on LaVine and just get over .500.

Making a great selection in Mobley at the draft and adding some depth in Rubio and Markkanen, the Cavs will be lead by the ‘Sex-Land’ duo and although may hit some bumps with this young roster, an extra 5 wins shouldn’t be an issue.

With 4 players in their starting lineup at the ages of 22 or younger, it could be a long year for Piston fans. Only silver lining, they will get number 1 pick in Cade Cunningham on the court.

The Pacers’ offseason revolved around signing a new coach in Rick Carlisle instead of any on court talent. Still yet to see anything from the Caris LaVert signing last season and still plagued with the TJ Warren injury, will be hard in seeing the Pacers improve.

The easy to forget that the Heat’s 20/21 campaign was impacted with a quick turnaround from the bubble experience and a roster continually hit with Covid protocols. Getting their act together in the second half of the season saw them just get over .500 but falling to the eventual Champions in Milwaukee. Bounce back year for the Heat.

The Knicks finally got their groove on lead by none other than Julius Randle. Taking advantage of Eastern conference disappointments in Chicago and Boston, New York were able to surprise the league and get their first playoff appearance in some time. Will the East be weary of the Knicks now?

Sucks to be you Ben. Trade or no trade, someone needs to move on.

Surprisingly made the Play-In tournament and winning to meet Philly in the playoffs, the Wizards were lead by a now departed Westbrook in a mid season resurgence. Offseason moves in Dinwiddie, Kuzma and Harrell probably gives the Wizards more depth while still retaining the services of Beal. Expect a bit of same/same but different.

A new coach, Olympic offseason for Luka and a fit Porzingis has us thinking the Mavericks are ready to make a jump. No danger to win the Division and no injuries to enter the season, Dallas could be challenging for the West title.

A late season injury to star guard Jamaal Murray has dampened some of our expectations for the Nuggets this season. Although MVP Jokic will be strong again, the help from the rest of the roster might be scares. Breakout candidate Porter Jr, after a year from hell with Covid issues could be ready to be Jokic’s wingman.

The Warriors just fell short last season, losing to the Lakers in the Play-In game. Not expecting Klay Thompson to return until after January, Steph Curry will need to carry the offensive load again. Yes he will have some of those hot streak runs during the season but will just not have enough to tackle the elite in the West.

Couldn’t buy a win in the second half of last season and with John Wall basically sitting to not block any development of their young roster, the Rockets will be doomed to make any impact apart from getting more games into Tate, Wood, Porter and Green.

With Leonard likely to miss the entire season with a torn ACL, the team will be lead by Paul George with little to no help on the offensive end. Looking more likely as a gap year for the Clippers until their superstar is fit and firing for next season.

The Lakers we able to trade for Westbrook to give them a third superstar to charge another Championship run. With a short turnaround entering last season from the bubble, both LeBron and Davis missed a heap of games with the team still managing 42 wins. With Westbrook, all three don’t have to necessarily turn up every game. Only drawback is their roster is very, very old.

The Grizzlies have stocked up with enough youth and talent to make a big jump this season. JJJ never really made the court last season and will start the year fully fit. Will challenge for the Play-In again.

The Timberwolves would have to think everything would have to be going their way to make 36 wins. KAT will get a good chance to make an impact, partnering BFF Russell or there could be a trade request looming.

No Zion for atleast 2-3 weeks to begin this season, its starting to feel like 2019 where the Pelicans started the year 1-7. Praised for securing a massive taking form the Lakers in the Davis trade, its starting to look glim again with no Ball or Holiday (now NBA Champ and Olympic Gold Medalist) on their roster.

Its probably now or never for the Blazers. A new coach in Billups and a frustrated superstar in Lillard, this season could be their last chance before the inevitable trade request.
