It’s the top of the West vs the bottom of the East in this one, and that doesn’t fair well for the crew from Motor City.

The Suns rank third in the league in scoring defense (102.7 ppg). Phoenix made 21-for-40 from three-point range during a 123-115 home win over Toronto last time out.

The Pistons are looking to end a three-game losing streak and are off to an NBA-worst 1-7 record to start the season. On Wednesday, they trailed by 26 at halftime in a 130-115 road loss to the Bucks. The Pistons missed 28 of their 41 three-pointers and shot just 39% overall.

The Pistons are the league’s worst team defensively in terms of field-goal %, letting through 50.7% or opponents from the floor through this early season sample size (but not good signs).

The Suns rank in the top third of the league in offensively and defensively so it will take quite a large line for us to even give the Pistons a side glance.

PICK – PHOENIX -5.5

The Wizards have lost six of their first eight and rank 25th defensvely, letting through a huge 119.5 ppg. On Wednesday, Washington let the 76ers shoot 62% from the field during a 141-136 road loss.

Boston are still missing Kemba Walker, but have still managed to produce the W’s, winning six of their first nine. On Wednesday Boston snuck in for a to 107-105 road win over Miami. They held a 56-40 advantage in points scored in the paint and shot 42% overall.

The Wizards rank last in the league in defensively and the Celtics have dropped to 19th defensively.

The Pelicans will be keen to bounce back tonigt and Ingram has taken another step up his ability to create for others.

Ingram averages 5.5 apg despite playing with Lonzo and Bledsoe, with his assist numbers up from 4.2 last season.

In 4 of his 8 games this season, Ingram has 6+ assists.

This game looks to be a tasty one for Ingram, with Small Forwards tallying assists 19% above average against the Hornets.

Expect a solid assist tally from Ingram in this one leading the Pelicans to a win.

PICK – BRANDON INGRAM OVER 4.5 ASSISTS

RESULT – 8 ASSISTS

The Hornets rank first in the league with 28.8 assists per game, and outscored Atlanta by 18 points during the first quarter of a 102-94 road win. Gordon Hayward had a career-best 44 point night on 15-for-25 shooting.

The Pelicans have gone 4-4 to start their campaign and are much better defensively under new appointment Stan Van Gundy. On Wednesday, George Hill made two free throws with 12 seconds remaining to hand the  Pelicans a 111-110 home loss. New Orleans outrebounded OKC 60-41, but missed 18 of their 22 three-pointers.

New Orleans rank fifth defensively and play at the sixth slowest tempo, so Unders is tempting.

George Hill made two free throws with 12 seconds remaining to lift OKC to a 111-110 road win against Pelicans. The Thunder were outrebounded 60-41 , but went 19 of 46 from three-point range.

The Knicks have some swagger, riding a three-game winning streak under first year head coach Tom Thibodeau. On Wednesday, New York clawed back from a 12-point halftime deficit for a 112-100 home win against Utah.

Both rank in the top seven in defensively and like to play at a slower tempo.

Unders or New York at a slim -2.0 perhaps the way to go.

The Warriors need to bounce back after dropping to 4-4 after the loss and are now 2-2 at home.
