The Cavs and Knicks look to build upon the momentum generated by smashing some Eastern Conference contenders.
Both teams earned big home wins Sunday, when the Cavs remained perfect with a 118-94 win over the 76ers and the Knicks had their first win of the season by shocking the Bucks, 130-110. (and ruining millions of parlays around the world).
At 3-0, the Cavs have a chance to build their first 4-game win streak since a 5-game streak from March 28 through April 5, 2018, which came at the end of LeBrons’ second stint in Cleveland.
The Knicks led the Bucks led 61-45 at the half and opened the lead to as many as 28 before the Bucks emptied the bench early in the fourth quarter.

Boston and Indiana met Sunday in the first game of the miniseries in Indi, with the Pacers etching out a 108-107 win that improved their record to 3-0. Sabonis made the game-winning layup with just 8.4 seconds left on the clock.
The Pacers led by as much as 11 late in the 3rd quarter, but Boston surged ahead 107-106 on a bucket from Marcus Smart with 11.8 seconds left to set the stage for Sabonis’ heroics.

The 76ers were eaasily handled 118-94 on the road against Cleveland on Sunday without Embiid. Just prior to the tip-off, Embiid was scratched with back tightness and the Sixers never were a chance. (Philadelphia went 11-10 last season without Embiid).
Despite losing Gasol and Ibaka in free agency, the Raptors were expected to be a challenger again, but have dropped their first two games to the Pelicans and Spurs. The Raptors played well away against the Spurs before losing 119-114 on Saturday.
The 76ers could be without Embiid, who is suffering from back tightness. Without Embiid in the lineup, the 76ers scored just 94 points in their loss to Cleveland.

The Bulls look for their first W after dropping to 0-3 following a 129-128 loss to the Warriors on Sunday.
The 0-3 Wizards are also winless after falling 120-113 to the Magic on Sunday for their second straight loss to the Magic. Washington ran out of gas and were outscored in the 4th quarter 43-19 after leading by 17 points to start the final quarter.
So basically, they shit the bed.
Westbrook will return in a game that should bring the points.

Milwaukee cost the punters around the world millions after losing in blowout fashion to the Knicks on Sunday night, 130-110. Giannis (27 points, 13 rebounds) and Khris Middleton (22 points) were productive, but it wasn’t enough as New York shot 54.1% from the floor and made 16-of-27 3-pointers (59.3%).
The 1-2 Bucks would love to get back on track aagainst Miami, who knocked them out of the playoffs last season with a 5-game upset in the East semifinals.
Miami improved to 1-1 following a 111-98 win over the Pelicans on Christmas Day, and have had a lengthy break since.
Miami’s issues tonight concern the status of Jimmy Butler’s right ankle. Butler missed the 2nd half of Miami’s home-opening win against the Pelicans, an is doubtful for the Bucks.
With Butler doubtful, we’ll stay away from this one for now.

The Magic are off to their first 3-0 start in a decade and rank 6th in the league in scoring at 121 points per game. On Sunday, Orlando rallied from a 17-point deficit entering the 4th quarter to score a 120-113 road win against Washington.
The Thunder traded away four of their top six scorers from last season and are rebuilding with a new head coach. Last night, Utah G Donovan Mitchell hit the game-winner with seconds left to send OKC to a 110-109 home loss. The Thunder (1-1) turned the ball over 17 times and shot 47 percent from the field in defeat.

The Mavericks smashed the Clippers 124-73 in LA on Sunday (albeit an absent Kawhi). The Clippers were awful from the start and faced the largest halftime deficit (77-27) in NBA history en route to the stunning outcome. At one point, the Mavericks led by 57 points.
The Wolves lost 127-91 to the Lakers on Sunday. The Lakers limited the Timberwolves to 36.9 percent shooting and forced them to miss 29 of 35 3-point attempts.
Karl-Anthony Towns, who sustained a dislocated wrist in a win over the Utah Jazz on Saturday, will miss.
The Clippers need to show something tonight, or forever be off every punter’s radar for the next month.

This will be the second of a back-to-back for Denver, who raced out to a 10-point lead after one quarter and eased to a 124-111 home win over Houston last night. The Nuggets (1-2) knocked down 14-for-31 from long distance and shot 53% overall.
All five Denver starters scored in double figures and were led by Jamal Murray with 21 points.
The Kings have won two of their first three games and are letting through 113.7 points on average. On Sunday they were outscored by 13 points during the second half of a 116-100 home loss versus Phoenix.
Jamal Murray suffered a head injury in last night’s game and his status for this contest is uncertain.
