Tonight’s Best Picks:

The Midfield Parlay of the Day

Atlanta WIN @1.51

Lakers +4.5 @1.50

Miami +7.5 @1.28

Tonight’s 5 Game Betting Tips.

Atlanta @ New York

Points +/- Rank

RK TEAM OWN OPP DIFF
12 Atlanta 102 100.1 +1.9
19 New York 97.5 99.7 -2.2

The Say

The Hawks were able to comfortably dismantle the Knicks at home a week ago and not much should suggest anything different. The only difference is the Knicks do take it up a notch when playing at MSG, not always winning, but the games are closer. They do have a 50/50 record at home.

Atlanta are in some form winning 7 out of the last 8 with all big guns hitting the box score, except for Korver who has not scored over 3 points in his last 3 games. He is a combined 2/27 from the field. The Hawks really need their marksman back as the Millsap, Horford and Teague connection can’t keep it up every game.

Best Bet: Atlanta WIN @1.51

Feeling Lucky: Atlanta +11 @3.45

Chicago @ Toronto

Points +/- Rank

RK TEAM OWN OPP DIFF
12 Chicago 101.3 99.4 +1.9
6 Toronto 99.9 96.4 +3.5

The Say

Both these teams are chasing the second seed in the East with the Raptors having the edge in that race, however, the mental edge is with the Bulls who won this matchup at home a week ago.

The Raptors have their centre back in Jonas and with Biyombo heading back to the bench, the team has some much needed depth. Rose is doubtful to play but is travelling with the team. Jonas in and Rose out could just be the edge the Raptors need.

It’s no Drake Night, but the Raptors have a very good home record and will be tough to beat.

Best Bet: Either Team within 7

Feeling Lucky: Chicago WIN @2.35

Miami @ Washington

Points +/- Rank

RK TEAM OWN OPP DIFF
10 Miami 97.3 95.1 +2.2
20 Washington 101.5 104 -2.5

The Say

The Wizards are the walking wounded at the moment with Neal, Beal, Nene and Gooden all set to miss the matchup against the Heat. However, they still have Mr John Wall who has had a pretty impressive month averaging 22.6 points and 11.7 assist with a handy 2.3 steals. One of those games was against Miami in Florida and a Win for the Wiz.

The Heat have been on the road 11 times this season and have only won 5. They will go into this matchup with a full bill of health but still with the shadow of inconsistency. We aren’t confident Miami are a good thing here but to be within 7 is a safer option.

Best Bet: Miami +7.5 @1.28

Feeling Lucky: Miami 1-10 @2.75

Portland @ Denver

Points +/- Rank

RK TEAM OWN OPP DIFF
17 Portland 101.2 102.2 -1
25 Denver 98.9 103.8 -4.9

The Say:

Damian Lillard (24.6 ppg, 6.8 apg, 4.5 rpg) is back for the Trailblazers, probably. While for the Nuggets, Kenneth Faried (12.6 ppg, 9.0 rpg) could sit after suffering a neck injury while tangling with Will Barton in overtime against Golden State last night.

Lillard could return from what is his first significant injury since entering the league, and it will be interesting to see how he responds after sitting for the last 5. In Lillards absence, CJ McCollum has been channeling Stephen Curry, averaging 32.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, and 6.3 assists over the last 3.
The Nuggets should be tired physically and emotionally after their close encounter in a disappointing overtime loss to the league leading Warriors last night. The Trailblazers have the energy, and the men on the floor to get the W.

Best Bet: Portland WIN @1.70.

Feeling Lucky: Portland -6.5.

Phoenix @ LA Lakers

Points +/- Rank

RK TEAM OWN OPP DIFF
21 Phoenix 102.8 105.6 -2.8
29 LA Lakers 96.6 106.6 -10

The Say:

The Lakers have started 2016 with a BANG, maybe not, but two straight W’s is still an improvement on their 2015. The Suns on the other side of the spectrum have lost 8 straight, including a 142-119 (60.9% shooting) loss to the Kings last night. The Kings may have the 3rd best Points For in the league at 105.3, but c’mon!

The last team to score more than that over the Suns was the 1990 Bulls team, in a 155-127 overtime loss.

Not only have the Suns received a beating from the Suns, it seems that they have
also found their dysfunctional locker room ways. In what is the latest NBA nightly sitcom, the Suns Marcus Morris was suspended for 2 games for throwing a towel at coach Jeff Hornacek. Three days later, leading scorer Eric Bledsoe (20.4 ppg, 6.1 apg, 4.0 rpg) suffered a season ending knee injury, which led to the sacking of assistant coaches Jerry Sichting and Mike Longabardi. Settle down boys, and maybe offer up more defense and less drama.

The Lakers start the betting as $1.85  favourites, and at home, against a Suns team in disarray should, SHOULD, get the W. But….we’ll still pick an over line for them.

Best Bet: Lakers +4.5 @1.50.

Feeling Lucky: Lakers 1-10 @2.75.
